Please read these Terms of Service carefully before using https://www.sectortalks.com. These terms govern your access to and use of all features and content offered by Sector Talks.

By accessing or using Sector Talks, you confirm that you are at least 13 years old and agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

1. Acceptance of Terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") constitute a legally binding agreement between you ("User", "you") and Sector Talks("we", "us", "our") governing your use of the Sector Talkswebsite and all associated services, features, and content (collectively, the "Service").

Your access to and use of the Service is conditioned on your acceptance of and compliance with these Terms. By clicking "Sign in", creating an account, or simply browsing the Service, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms.

2. Description of Service

Sector Talks is a Formula 1 analytics and news platform that provides:

  • Live and historical race results, driver standings, and constructor standings.
  • Session telemetry, lap-time analysis, and deep-dive race strategy breakdowns.
  • Curated Formula 1 news articles and editorial content.
  • Driver and team profiles with statistics.
  • Personalised features for registered users, including saved favourite drivers and teams (account required).

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time with or without notice. We will not be liable to you or any third party for any modification, suspension, or discontinuation of the Service.

3. Accounts & Registration

Certain features of the Service require you to create an account by authenticating via Google or GitHub OAuth. When you register:

  • You must provide accurate, complete, and current information as obtained from your OAuth provider.
  • You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account and for all activities that occur under your account.
  • You must promptly notify us at noct@sectortalks.com of any unauthorised use of your account or any other security breach.
  • You may not create an account on behalf of another person without their express authorisation.
  • You may not maintain more than one account without prior written consent.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, contain false information, or have been inactive for an extended period.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes and in a manner that does not infringe the rights of others. You must not:

  • Use automated tools, bots, scrapers, or crawlers to access the Service in a way that places an unreasonable load on our infrastructure.
  • Attempt to bypass, disable, or circumvent any security feature, rate limit, or access control mechanism.
  • Use the Service to distribute spam, malware, phishing content, or any other harmful material.
  • Impersonate any person or entity or misrepresent your affiliation with any person or entity.
  • Engage in any activity that violates applicable local, national, or international law or regulation.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any portion of the Service, other accounts, or connected systems.
  • Reproduce, duplicate, copy, sell, resell, or exploit any portion of the Service without our express written permission.
  • Use the Service in any manner that could damage, disable, overburden, or impair our servers or networks.

Violation of this Acceptable Use Policy may result in immediate account termination and, where applicable, legal action.

5. Intellectual Property

All content on Sector Talks — including but not limited to text, graphics, logos, icons, images, data visualisations, editorial articles, and source code — is the property of Sector Talks or its content licensors and is protected by applicable copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to access and use the Service solely for your personal, non-commercial purposes. This licence does not include:

  • Any resale or commercial use of the Service or its content.
  • Downloading or copying account information for the benefit of another party.
  • Any use of data mining, robots, or similar data gathering and extraction tools.
  • Creating derivative works based on our content without explicit permission.

Formula 1, F1, and related marks are trademarks of Formula One World Championship Limited. Sector Talks is an independent fan and analytics platform and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Formula One Management or the FIA.

6. User Content

Currently, Sector Talks does not provide a mechanism for users to publicly submit or publish content (e.g., comments or posts). To the extent you communicate with us via email, feedback forms, or other channels:

  • You retain ownership of any content you submit.
  • You grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to use, reproduce, and incorporate that content solely for the purpose of operating and improving the Service (e.g., addressing bug reports).
  • You represent that you have all necessary rights to submit the content and that it does not violate any third-party rights or applicable law.

If user-generated content features (such as comments or reviews) are introduced in the future, additional terms will apply and will be notified to users accordingly.

7. Third-Party Services

The Service integrates with and relies on third-party services, including:

  • Google OAuth & GitHub OAuth — for user authentication. Your use of these services is governed by their respective terms and privacy policies.
  • Supabase — for database hosting and storage.
  • Vercel — for web hosting and edge compute.
  • OpenF1 / Ergast API — for official Formula 1 timing and statistical data.

We are not responsible for the content, privacy practices, or availability of third-party services. Links to external websites are provided for convenience only and do not constitute an endorsement.

8. Disclaimers

Important — please read carefully

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS WITHOUT ANY WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

Specifically, Sector Talks does not warrant that:

  • The Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure.
  • Race data, standings, telemetry, or any other information provided is always accurate, complete, or current — data is sourced from third-party providers and may contain errors or delays.
  • Any defects or errors in the Service will be corrected.

Use of the Service and reliance on any information provided is entirely at your own risk.

9. Limitation of Liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, SECTOR TALKS, ITS DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, PARTNERS, AGENTS, AND SUPPLIERS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES — INCLUDING LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, USE, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES — ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO:

  • Your access to or use of (or inability to access or use) the Service.
  • Any conduct or content of any third party on the Service.
  • Any inaccuracy or incompleteness of race data, standings, or other information provided.
  • Unauthorised access to or use of our servers or any personal information stored therein.

In no event shall our total aggregate liability to you exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim or (b) USD $50. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages, so the above limitations may not apply to you.

10. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Sector Talks, its affiliates, licensors, and service providers, and their respective officers, directors, employees, contractors, agents, licensors, and suppliers from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, judgements, awards, losses, costs, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or relating to:

  • Your violation of these Terms.
  • Your use of the Service in any manner not authorised by these Terms.
  • Your violation of any third-party right, including any intellectual property, privacy, or publicity right.
  • Any claim that content you submitted to us caused damage to a third party.

11. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without cause or notice, including if:

  • You breach any provision of these Terms.
  • We are required to do so by law or at the request of a law enforcement authority.
  • The Service (or any part thereof) is discontinued.

You may terminate your account at any time by contacting us at noct@sectortalks.com. Upon termination, all licences granted to you will immediately cease, and we may delete your account data in accordance with our Privacy Policy. Provisions of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination (including IP rights, disclaimers, and limitation of liability) shall survive.

12. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any dispute arising from or relating to these Terms or the Service that cannot be resolved informally shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of competent jurisdiction.

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, that provision will be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.

Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms will not be considered a waiver of those rights.

13. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. When we make material changes:

  • We will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
  • For significant changes, we will provide notice to signed-in users via an in-app banner or email at least 14 days before the new terms take effect.

Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of revised Terms constitutes your acceptance of the changes. If you do not agree to the revised Terms, you must stop using the Service and may request account deletion.
